INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The injury-plagued Indiana Pacers announced Monday that second-year forward Johnny Forfe is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Furphy suffered the injury in the third quarter of Sunday’s 122-104 loss to Toronto. Team officials released a three-paragraph statement on Monday saying the Australian was taken to New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery, where an MRI confirmed the extent of the injury. Indiana will face the Knicks on Tuesday in New York.

Furphy is the latest addition to the injured list for two-time All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton, who tore his Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the NBA Finals in June and is ruled out for the remainder of the season.
Starters Andrew Nembhard and Aaron Nesmith and key backups Obi Toppin and TJ McConnell have all missed time this season due to injuries. The result: Indiana is 13-40, second-to-last in the league. However, the absence gave Furfe, a 2024 second-round draft pick out of Kansas, a chance to show what he can do in 21 starts. He averaged 5.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
The Pacers may also have to deal with another injured player – new center Ivica Zubac, who Indiana acquired in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers last week. He’s been dealing with an ankle injury since December, and Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle recently said Zubac wouldn’t play until he’s “really ready.”
