According to the IDF, Hassan led an operation that killed five IDF soldiers and seriously injured two others.
The Israeli military confirmed on Wednesday that the IDF killed Hamas operative Ahmed Hassan, the leader of the Beit Hanoun sniper array in northern Gaza.
The military said Hassan was killed after a “blatant violation” of the ceasefire earlier this week.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, Hassan led the operation in northern Gaza on July 7, 2025, in which Master Sgt. (res.) Benyamin Asulin, St. Sergeant. Noam Aharon Musgardian, St. Sergeant. Meir Simon Ammar, Sgt. Moshe Nissim Frech and St. Sgt. Moshe Shmuel Noll was killed and two other soldiers were seriously wounded.

Military says Hassan killed multiple IDF soldiers
According to the IDF, Hassan also helped facilitate an attack on April 19, 2025, that resulted in the death of Warrant Officer G’haleb Sliman Nasasra and the serious injury of a tracker, a combat officer, and a female combat medic.
The military further linked Hassan to an incident on April 24, 2025, when Master Sgt. (res.) Asaf Cafri was killed and two soldiers seriously wounded.
The IDF said it “will continue to counter any attempts by terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip to launch attacks against IDF troops and the State of Israel.”
