Idaho State Police confirm one dead in I-84 four-vehicle crash

One person is dead after a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 near Nampa Friday night, Idaho State Police said.

The crash occurred on Interstate 84 near milepost 32 below the Middleton Road overpass, according to a news release. A silver 2003 Ford F350 driven by a 37-year-old man from Nampa sideswiped another vehicle and then attempted to flee the scene by traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84.

The man continued driving in the wrong direction and then collided head-on with a silver 2013 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 23-year-old man from Ontario with a passenger, a 20-year-old woman from Homedale. A second vehicle was also hit.

The 20-year-old female passenger of the Hyundai died at the scene, police said. All other persons involved were transported to local hospitals with injuries.

Idaho State Police closed part of the highway after the crash just after 10 p.m. Reopening at 12:14 p.m.
