AUSTIN (KXAN) — Icy roads in Central Texas remained dangerous Sunday, with some major roads closed due to traffic accidents.

According to a post on X by Chief Lisa Davis, an Austin Police Department (APD) cruiser was involved in a collision. She did not say where the accident occurred, but said “thankfully, everyone is safe.”
“Please stay off the roads unless it’s an emergency – for everyone’s safety,” Davis said.
In San Marcos, northbound Interstate 35 at Posey Road was closed after a crash just after noon Sunday, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) said in a post on X .

The city said an 18-wheeler lost control and the accident caused a fuel leak. In an update, the city said the road opened at 1:25 p.m. Sunday.

The city said “several” other minor accidents occurred in the area. TxDOT is de-icing the roads.
