‘I am leaving Pakistan cricket’: 24-year-old quits game, alleges corruption

New Delhi: A 24-year-old cricketer from Sialkot has shocked the cricket world by announcing his decision to quit Pakistan cricket citing politics, corruption and lack of structure in the domestic system.

Sialkot-born Shahzaib Bhatti played a key role in Sialkot District’s one-wicket win over Peshawar District in the 2024-25 Quaid-i-Azam Trophy final and posted a dramatic unbeaten 32-match run.

However, Batty said that despite his outstanding performance, he missed many games and was forced to sit on the bench for nearly 40 games. The youngster revealed that his dream was to represent Pakistan but the reality structure in the country forced him to withdraw from the game.
