How winter weather is impacting Georgia gymnastics, other Bulldog teams

The winter storm expected to impact the South is affecting the fifth-ranked Georgia gymnastics team and several other Bulldog athletic teams.

The GymDawgs game at No. 2 Oklahoma State was delayed three hours and will begin at 3 p.m. ET on Friday. The meeting will be broadcast on the SEC Network.

The Georgia women’s tennis regional tournament at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Athens will not take place after Maryland, San Diego State and Washington State withdrew “due to weather-related issues,” according to the University of Georgia. Georgia advanced in the tournament.

The women’s and men’s swimming meets between Georgia and Tennessee take place a day earlier, to Friday at 1 p.m. at the Gabrielson Natatorium. “Swimapalooza II” festivities continue, including free T-shirts for the first 500 spectators and free food for the first 250 fans.

The Georgia track and field team is competing in the Orange and Purple Invitational Tournament at Clemson, which started a day early due to weather threats on Thursday and Friday.

The Athens area will be under a winter storm watch from late Friday night into Monday morning, with ice thickness up to 0.75 inches and less than 1 inch of snow or sleet, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

As of early Friday afternoon, Saturday’s Georgia men’s basketball game at Texas at 1 p.m. ET remained as scheduled.

Oklahoma State gymnastics has postponed its 2025 national championship celebration and banner unveiling scheduled for Friday at the Georgia meet to a future date.

“Admission will be free to all fans who feel it is safe to attend Friday’s game,” Oklahoma State said on its sports website.
