GOG Galaxy is a new PC game distribution client similar to Steam, minus the negatives like always-online requirements and forced DRM. Its catalog includes new games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as well as classics like Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale.

Although GOG Galaxy is still in beta (final version features will include the ability to roll back game updates and notifications), there are still things you can do to get the most out of it.
This guide tells you how to manage downloads and add-ons for GOG games. This is a handy feature that allows you to install games on a faster hard drive, or keep all your installers on a different hard drive if the hard drive crashes or your usual location can’t hold any more data.

Download GOG Galaxy. Go to the GOG website and download the beta version.

Install GOG Galaxy in the location of your choice.

Run the application. Click the settings gear icon in the lower left corner. This will open the settings menu.

In the Settings menu, check the box that appears Manually manage all folders.

Now you can choose where to download the game and the additional content that comes with it. Click the box with three dots to select a directory, or type the directory manually in the box provided.
From now on, any game you purchase on GOG Galaxy will be installed in the location of your choice.
