How to Reset Your iPhone or iPad

If you are saying goodbye to your iPhone or iPad, erasing all content on it is a good option. Resetting your iPhone is a last resort and should only be taken in special circumstances, such as when you’re selling your device or if you’re sure there’s no other way to fix any issues you’re experiencing with your device. The method we describe below works on all latest iPhones, such as iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone X, etc. If your device is unresponsive or your iPhone is frozen, you may want to consider a hard reset. This will restart your iPhone without deleting data. But if you know that resetting your iOS device is the only option, follow the steps below and restore it to factory condition.

How to reset iPhone

  1. Go to set up > General > reset.
  2. Here you will see several options. To reset your iPhone or iPad, the option you want to choose is called Delete all content and settings.
  3. You may see a prompt asking you to update your iCloud backup before erasing it. you should click backup then delete.
  4. If you don’t want to update your iCloud backup, tap Erase now.
  5. You will see the same options again and will have to enter your password. After completing these operations, you will be able to reset your iPhone or iPad.

If you don’t want to completely reset your iPhone or iPad, you can reset just certain things like device settings, network settings, keyboard dictionary, home screen layout, and location and privacy. All these options will be shown below set up > General > reset.

How to factory reset your iPhone or iPad using iTunes

If your iPhone doesn’t work for some reason, you can also reset it to factory settings through iTunes. These steps will help you restore your iPhone or iPad to factory settings through iTunes on PC or Mac.

  1. Connect your iPhone or iPad to your PC or Mac, then open iTunes.
  2. Wait for the device’s icon to appear on iTunes. It will appear below the play/pause button. Once it appears, click on it.
  3. You may be asked for your password and whether to “Trust this computer” on your iPhone or iPad. After entering your password, make sure you trust the computer.
  4. Now, on iTunes on your computer, click on the blue Restore iPhone… button.
  5. click recover The button in the pop-up window starts resetting the iOS device to factory settings.
