Xiaomi has announced the MIUI 7 global beta ROM 5.8.22 for its smartphones. The MIUI 7 update is not currently available over-the-air (OTA) for Xiaomi smartphones, which means you will have to download and install the version manually if you are interested in jumping on the MIUI 7 train.

As the name suggests, MIUI 7 ROM is still in the testing phase, which means performance may be unstable and may even lead to data loss. Now that you know the risks of installing beta software but still want to proceed, we recommend that you back up your Xiaomi smartphone before proceeding.
As of now, MIUI 7 is available for the following Xiaomi smartphones: Xiaomi 4i, Xiaomi 4, Xiaomi 3, Xiaomi Redmi 1S, Xiaomi Redmi 2, Xiaomi Redmi Note, and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G.
Here’s how to download and install MIUI 7 on your Xiaomi smartphone:
1) Identify your smartphone and download the MIUI 7 version corresponding to your smartphone.

Most users should download a recovery ROM for their smartphones. Flashing a Recovery ROM won’t erase your user data or files on your internal storage, and it’s simple to use, so we recommend following this method unless you plan on starting over.
2) After downloading the Recovery ROM corresponding to your device, rename the downloaded ROM file to update.zip on the computer.
3) Connect the Xiaomi phone to the laptop via a Micro-USB cable, and copy the downloaded ROM file to the root directory of the device memory (do not place it in other folders).
4) Enter the recovery mode of your device. There are 2 ways to do this as follows:
Method 1: Start Updater application on your device, click … icon in the upper right corner and select Reboot into recovery mode Enter.
Method 2: You can also turn off your device and then press and hold the Volume + button and Power button simultaneously to enter Recovery mode.
5) Once in recovery mode you can use volume +/- to select up/down and then confirm using the power button.
After entering Recovery mode, select the language you use, select Install update.zip to system one and confirm, then your device will start updating automatically. Wait until the update is complete, Select Reboot to System Oneand your device should boot to the MIUI 7 version.
To flash Recovery ROM, you just need to put the ROM file into the root directory of your device and follow the steps below to flash in Recovery mode.
Installing Fastboot ROM is a bit complicated, you can follow the instructions below.
1) Download the MIUI ROM flash tool from Xiaomi website.
2) Download the appropriate Fastboot ROM for your device from the link below.

3) Turn off your Xiaomi smartphone. hit Volume keys and power button At the same time enter Fastboot mode. Now plug your device into your Windows PC or laptop via Micro-USB cable.
4) Double-click the Fastboot ROM file downloaded to your PC in step 2 to extract it. Open the folder where the decompressed ROM is located and copy the folder path.
5) Now unzip the flash tool you downloaded in step 1. Then double-click it to install it. After that, open MiFlash.exe And paste the folder path copied in the previous step in its address bar. Click now refresh button and MiFlash will recognize your device.
There are three options to choose from at the bottom: all glitter All files will be flushed and all user data and all files in internal storage will be wiped. Flash everything except storage Updated files will be flushed, user data wiped, but files in internal storage will not be deleted. Flash everything except data and storage Only updated files will be refreshed, user data and files in internal storage will not be erased.
To retain your user data, make sure to select Flash is everything except data and storage. After that click on flash The button on the top right corner flashes the ROM to your Xiaomi smartphone.
6) Wait for the progress bar to fill up. You will then see a message next to it that reads: “The operation completed successfully.” Your device will automatically restart and install MIUI 7.
