How to Completely Disable Reddit’s ‘Open in App’ Pop-Up Dialogue Box on Your Phone

Reddit’s “Open in app” pop-ups can be very annoying when you visit its mobile website. Worst of all, the company deliberately doesn’t allow users to delete pop-ups by clicking the close button. It looks like the dialog box might help the company known as the “front page of the Internet” increase its app downloads and usage over time. Of course, there are plenty of netizens who don’t want to see the pop-up that restricts access to the Reddit site when browsing from their smartphones.

Reddit provides users with two options through a pop-up titled “View Reddit in…” – either open the Reddit app highlighted in the dialog or continue using the mobile browser by clicking continue button. Interestingly, this pop-up appears regardless of whether you have the Reddit app installed on your phone or not. In the latter case, it will just take you to your phone’s app store.

However, Android Police reports that you can disable annoying pop-ups from your mobile browser. Here’s how.

How to Disable Reddit’s “Open in App” Pop-up

You can follow the steps below to permanently disable Reddit’s “Open in App” pop-up.

  1. Visit Reddit’s mobile site or any links there on your mobile browser.

  2. hit continue button on the “Open in App” popup to remove it from the screen.

  3. Click on the three-line/hamburger menu in the upper right corner of the page.

  4. according to set up options in the menu.

  5. Uncheck the “Require to open in app” box.

It’s important to note that the above workaround only works if you don’t delete your browser history or access Reddit in incognito mode. If your browser application clears session cookies, you will continue to see pop-ups.
