A COVID-19 vaccine certificate is a verification that you have successfully completed a vaccination course. In light of the current pandemic, this certificate acts as a ticket to use many essential services around the world and we need to have it with us at all times. However, the easiest way to access your COVID-19 vaccine records is to save them on your smartphone. Apple is bringing a new feature with the iOS 15.1 update that lets iPhone users store and access digital copies of their COVID-19 vaccination and testing certificates in the Health app. This way, users can upload their vaccination status to the Health app, which will create a vaccination card in Apple Wallet.
Records of COVID-19 vaccination and test results work similar to paper documents with an official seal. Verifiable health records are represented by a check mark in the Health app on iPhone, implying that the record has not changed since it was originally created.
How to add a vaccination card to Apple Wallet
If you’ve received a QR code from your healthcare provider, you can follow the steps below to add your COVID-19 vaccination details in the Health app.

Open the Camera app on your iPhone and scan the QR code.

Once your iPhone recognizes the QR code, a Health app notification will appear on the screen.

Click on the Health app notification.

Click Add to wallet and health Save COVID-19 vaccine details to Apple Health and Apple Wallet.
Some healthcare providers also offer downloadable files. In these cases you can click on the download link and select Add to wallet and health Attach data to Apple Wallet and Apple Health.
If you’ve added your COVID-19 records to the Apple Health app, you can still add them to Apple Wallet. for this,
- Open the Health app.
- tap generalize In the lower left corner.
- below Vaccination recordsclick Add to wallet.
If you don’t see the “Add to Wallet” option,
- tap Browse and enter immunizations.
- Click Immunization record type.
- Select a verifiable vaccination record with a check mark and click Add to wallet.
It is important to note that before proceeding, make sure your iPhone has been updated to iOS 15.1. Once added, users can access their COVID-19 vaccine details at any time. However, users need to use Face ID, Touch ID or password to verify their identity to view it fully. It will display your name, vaccine type, date of vaccination, issuer and QR code. Data cannot be shared with other users.
