Everything about Miami Heat point guard Davion Mitchell and Cleveland Cavaliers superstar Donovan Mitchell suggests they are connected.
Just looking at them raises suspicion. They are both stocky but athletic guards.
Then you get names where it looks like their parents had several sons and wanted their names to have the same initial letters and similar pronunciations.
Then you get the jersey number: 45. They all wear it.
So they must be connected somehow, right?

Even if you know it’s true, it can be hard to believe.
They even faced each other in a playoff series last year. They exchanged handshakes after the game. These guys must be brothers, or cousins, or something.
But no. It’s all just a huge coincidence.
Sports can be so fun sometimes. This is a huge irony.
What’s even more noteworthy is that Davion has developed into a true starting point guard for the Heat after serving as a minor player with the Kings early in his career.
His star power won’t be on Donovan’s level, but they are both important players in the Eastern Conference. They’re just not related by blood.
