Houston Rockets jersey history No. 9 – Dillon Brooks (2023-25)

Houston Rockets players have worn a total of 52 different jersey numbers since the start of the 1967-68 season (including one series of numbers that does not belong to Houston assistant coach and general manager Carroll Dawson), and have been worn by nearly 500 players in Rockets history.

To honor all the players who have worn these numbers over the decades, Rockets Wire reports on the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who have worn them since the franchise’s inception to the present day.

With seven of those jerseys now retired and honoring some of the greatest Rockets ever to wear them, there’s a lot of history to be told.

In today’s article, we continue our discussion of No. 20 of the 20 players who wears jersey number 9, wing Dillon Brooks. After finishing his college career at the University of Oregon, Brooks was selected by the Houston Rockets with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

The Mississauga, Ont., native played the first six seasons of his career with the Memphis Grizzlies following a draft-night trade, ending in 2023 when he was traded to Houston. His stay with the team lasted until 2025 when he was traded to the Phoenix Suns.

During his time with the Rockets, Brooks only wore the No. 9 jersey and averaged 13.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
