With the win, they got off to a hot start. Charlotte outshot Orlando 38-28 in the first quarter thanks to the outstanding performance of Con Knuppel, who finished the quarter with 16 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting.
Unfortunately for Knuupel and the Hornets, he suffered a horrific injury in the second quarter and was forced to leave the game. While guarding Desmond Bane, Knuupel jumped for a floater that landed on Bane’s foot, causing his ankle to bend awkwardly.
Hornets athletics and coaches helped Knuupel off the floor, but he did not put any weight on his injured right foot.
In Knuupel’s absence, the Hornets won the game 120-105, tying the series with Orlando.

After the game, Charlotte received good news about Knuupel’s health. Head coach Charles Lee announced that X-rays revealed no broken bones.
Still, his return timeline is up in the air. Lee went on to say that Knuupel will be re-evaluated once the team returns to Charlotte.
After having Saturday and Sunday off, the Hornets return home to face the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday. An update on Knuupel’s return schedule should have been released before the report was made.
Charlotte will host the Golden State Warriors at Spectrum Center on Wednesday before beginning a three-game road trip.
