Former New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira is running for Congress in Texas, and he has the backing of President Donald Trump.
It’s something Trump mentioned when he spoke in Texas earlier this week, and something Teixeira bragged about on X.
He wrote on the
However, Teixeira’s followers on X noticed something. Trump seemed to have a hard time saying his name and then praising the strength of his pitch. The 45-year-old is a three-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glove Award winner. He led the American League in home runs in 2009 and finished his career with a .268 average, 409 homers and 1,298 RBIs.
Teixeira is not a pitcher, though.
“Throw that ball?” one person replied. “Trump thinks you’re a pitcher. He doesn’t know who you are.”
“Lmao first baseman is really known for ‘throwing the ball,'” wrote another.
“That fat (expletive) doesn’t know (expletive) your career lol,” wrote another.
“He doesn’t even know who you are, Mark talking about throwing the ball,” another person responded.
Another wrote: “Omg (expletive) he had never heard of you before LMAO.”
“He can barely say your name and his biggest compliment is ‘he can throw that ball,'” another wrote. “Sick guy!”
“Piggy thinks you’re a pitcher,” wrote another.
Not all comments, however, focused on Trump’s fumbling with Teixeira’s name and position.
“(Mark Teixeira) I can’t stress this enough,” one person wrote. “You are truly a huge disappointment. The fact that you aligned yourself with a lying, cheating, racist, corrupt man speaks volumes about you. (Expletive) you.”
Others focused on Epstein’s accusations against Trump while criticizing Teixeira for accepting his support. Of course, there are those who would love to see the former slugger receive support.
Teixeira is competing in Texas in ’21Yingshi Congressional district where he seeks to unseat Chip Roy, who is running for Texas Attorney General.
