It wasn’t pretty, but the Michigan State basketball team found a way out Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans held off Penn State for an important road win on Saturday afternoon. Michigan State led by 10 points in the second half, but needed a strong finish to defeat the Nittany Lions 76-72.

DeVine Ugochukwu scored a career-high 23 points in the win, hitting all five three-pointers to lead the Spartans to victory offensively. MSU’s Jackson Kohler and Carson Cooper also scored in double figures in the win (10 points each).
With the win, Michigan State improves to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in Big Ten play. The Spartans will now play three mid-major opponents before returning to conference play in early January.
