Hi-Fi Rush Developer Tango Gameworks Announces Rebrand, Begins Hiring for New Action Game

Tango Gameworks, the developer of the critically acclaimed rhythm action game Hi-Fi Rush, has begun development on its next game. The studio confirmed on Monday that it is rebranding and hiring for multiple open positions for its yet-to-be-announced action game. The Japanese studio said it wasn’t ready to share details about the game yet, but announced it was looking for like-minded developers for its next project. The update comes a year after Tango Gameworks’ then-parent company Microsoft shut down the studio to focus on “high-impact games.”

Tango Gameworks returns with next project

Hi-Fi Rush developer launched a new website on Monday along with a new brand and logo, marking the beginning of a “new era” and direction for the studio. The new website introduces the studio’s vision, philosophy, team member details, open positions and more.

“The new logo and brand design aims to encapsulate the studio’s vision as a ‘creative studio’: a place where creators own their work and their individual contributions come together into games that are ‘handcrafted with a soul,'” Tango Gameworks said in a press release.

The studio also announced that it has begun work on its “ambitious” next project. Tango didn’t reveal details about the game, but listed a number of job openings for the unannounced action game on the site’s Careers page.

Tango Gameworks, a Krafton company

The rebrand and the announcement of new projects mark the return of Tango Gameworks, which was shut down by Microsoft last May despite launching the critically acclaimed Hi-Fi Rush. The Xbox parent company closed several Bethesda-owned studios at the time, including Tango and Redfall developer Arkane Austin, to focus on its biggest franchises.

However, Tango Gameworks gained new life when Krafton acquired the studio in August 2024, marking its “first major investment in the Japanese video game market.” The deal also includes Hi-Fi Rush’s intellectual property.

“KRAFTON intends to support the Tango Gameworks team’s continued commitment to innovation and delivering fresh and exciting experiences to fans,” the Korean company said at the time.

Tango Gameworks, an independent development studio based in Tokyo, will develop new IP under the Krafton umbrella, as well as build on existing IP.

“Tango Gameworks has always been committed to developing games driven by fresh, exciting ideas that our creative team is passionate about. Now, as part of KRAFTON, Inc., we are proud to continue that tradition,” the studio’s new website reads in describing the partnership with Krafton.

“Since joining KRAFTON, Tango Gameworks has embarked on a new chapter, developing games that resonate with players around the world. We will continue to work on the creation and development of unique new IP, rising to the challenge of becoming a unique voice in the gaming industry,” the developer said.
