About a year later, the Cincinnati Reds traded minor leaguer Mike Sirota and a draft pick to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Gavin Lux, who sent Lux to the Tampa Bay Rays in a three-team trade.
Lux batted .269 with five home runs and 53 RBIs in his only season with the Reds. He spent the evening of Jan. 15 at the P&G MLB Cincinnati Reds Youth Academy, taking batting practice with outfielder Rece Hinds and signing autographs for young players in the Cincinnati area.

Soon after, Lux found out he would be heading to the American League for the first time in his MLB career.
Marc Topkin of Tampabay.com wrote that the Rays “believe Luck will benefit from knowing he was acquired to play second base.”
The Reds acquired left-handed pitcher Brock Burke in the Lux trade.
In the deal, the Angels received outfielder Josh Lowe, who was selected seventh overall by the Rays before the Dodgers selected Lux in the first round of the 2016 MLB draft.
Gavin Lux spends the 2025 season with the Reds.
