Interested in trying to adjust the Green Bay Packers salary cap in the 2026 offseason? Ken Ingalls does most of the heavy lifting in our annual offseason evaluation post, and he’s provided a handy chart for you.
To help show where the Packers can save against the salary cap this offseason, Ingles laid out the specific salary cap savings for each player on the roster through cuts, trades and restructures, and the savings can be substantial.

Nearly every NFL team has salary cap leverage they can use to create flexibility. Cutting expenses saves money now but accelerates future money becoming dead money. Restructuring is like kicking the can down the road – saving money now by pushing money from the cap into the future.
Here’s a handy chart from Ingalls:
A “simple” restructure usually means converting base salary into a signing bonus. A “max void” restructuring involves converting salary into bonuses and adding void years to lower the first-year cap. The Packers have strict salary cap requirements but may not need to aggressively use their max-open options this offseason.

Significant savings from cuts
-
OL Elgton Jenkins: $19,529,412
-
De LaShon Gary: $10,978,862
-
Running back Josh Jacobs: $8,292,647
-
S Xavier McKinney: $7,588,235
-
CB Keeson Nixon: $5,000,000
-
G Aaron Banks: $4,541,176
-
LB Isaiah McDuffie: $3,700,000
Speculation is that the Packers need to take advantage of the money saved by cutting Jenkins and Gary – more than $30 million. The money saved by cutting Banks and Hobbs (who really struggled in their first year in Green Bay) may not be worth creating two more vacancies.
Simple reorganization results in significant cost savings
-
OL Aaron Banks: $10,656,667
-
De Rashan Gary: $8,350,000
-
Quarterback Jordan Love: $7,348,000
-
S Xavier McKinney: $5,767,500
-
CB Nate Hobbs: $4,556,667
-
Running back Josh Jacobs: $4,450,000
-
WR Christian Watson: $1,657,500
Expect a mix of cuts (see: Jenkins, Gary?) and simple shakeups (see: McKinney, Love, Tom?). The Packers must clear cap space; Brian Gutekunst and Russ Ball need to hit the salary cap by March, and the team needs operating room through 2026. If Gutekunst wants to be active in free agency or bring back any free agents of his own, more room will be needed.
