Greenville production plant sends employees home after overhead dispute

Employees at the FRAM manufacturing facility in Greenville were recently informed that they do not have to return to work.

The Greenville Daily Advocate reports that the plant has been in operation for more than 75 years, but conflicts between Honda and its investor Onset have stalled construction of the plant.

The plant was originally scheduled to close on April 30, but the controversy has accelerated the process.

Production ended on March 7, and employees were told last week to clean out their personal belongings. According to reports, employees will be paid until April 30 and then become eligible for unemployment benefits.

The Daily Advocate has more coverage of this story, including comments from United Auto Workers Local #2413, the FRAM employee union, and employees.
