BERLIN, February 28 (Reuters) – Germany, France and Britain condemned Iran’s attacks on countries in the region on Saturday, saying Iran must avoid indiscriminate military strikes and resume negotiations.
“We condemn in the strongest possible terms Iran’s attacks on countries in the region,” French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a joint statement.
“We call for the resumption of negotiations and urge Iran’s leaders to seek a negotiated solution. Ultimately, the Iranian people must be allowed to determine their future,” they said.
The leaders said they have been urging Iran to end its nuclear program, curb its ballistic missile program, refrain from destabilizing activities in the region and cease its appalling violence and repression against its own people.
They added that their country was not involved in Saturday’s attack but said they were in close contact with international partners, including the United States, Israel and partners in the region.
“We reaffirm our commitment to regional stability and the protection of civilian lives,” they added.
