The talented offensive lineman played high school football and ran track for Douglas Country in Douglasville, Georgia. The four-star prospect ranks fifth among emerging high-level offensive tackles in the country, according to 247Sports. Sam Epel ranks as the No. 31 prospect in the country, so he’s close to being named a five-star prospect.

The Douglas County star is Georgia’s top-ranked offensive lineman in the 2027 recruiting cycle. Sam Epel is the third-best recruit in the Peach State behind Ohio State edge rusher committed DJ Jacobs and uncommitted edge rusher KJ Green.

Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Broderick Jones and head coach Kirby Smart

Sam Epel will likely join Georgia’s 2027 class, which has six duties, one of which is offensive line. Coach Kirby Smart and Georgia have secured a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Kelsey Adams.

Sam Epel suffered a torn ACL in September 2024, which caused him to miss most of his sophomore year in high school. He still feels Georgia values his talents.

One thing that might impress recruits like Sam Epel is how much playing time freshman offensive linemen Juan Gaston and Dontrell Glover will receive in the 2025 college football season. Dawgs must beat South Carolina, Miami, Tennessee and more to land Sam Epel’s commitment
