The Georgia Bulldogs have cracked the top 10 in the USA TODAY Sports Baseball Coaches Poll. They are now ranked eighth in the polls, up two places from last week.
This was due to their series against the Queen’s Royals. They led the Royals 12-2 in eight innings on March 6, swept the doubleheader on Saturday, March 7, and led the Royals again on Sunday, winning 14-3 in seven innings. Overall, they outscored Queens 50-10 in the weekend series.

Unfortunately, they have a lot of powerhouses in the SEC to keep up with. There are 11 SEC teams in the top 25 and four in the top 10, all ahead of Georgia. Texas is ranked second, Mississippi State is ranked third, Auburn is ranked fifth and Arkansas is ranked sixth. One of Georgia’s biggest rivals, Georgia Tech, is also ranked fourth.
Georgia (15-3) closed out a major portion of nonconference play. Now, the Bulldogs will focus on competing in a deep, talented SEC. Georgia SEC play opens on Friday, March 13 against the No. 21 Tennessee Volunteers. The three-game series against Tennessee will be Georgia’s biggest test yet.
