FromSoftware launched Elden Ring Nightreign in May and announced its next project, The Duskbloods, during a Nintendo Switch 2 Direct in April. However, the studio has multiple unannounced projects in development, as studio president and “Elden Ring” director Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed last year. A new report claims that the critically acclaimed developer has an as-yet-unannounced multi-platform game in the late stages of development that could launch next year.
FromSoftware is developing an unannounced game
According to an MP1st report published last week, the Japanese studio is developing a new game codenamed “FMC.” The report cited sources as saying that the unannounced multi-platform game is in the “advanced stages of production.” According to reports, the studio is currently in the development process and, barring delays, the game should launch in 2026.
If that’s the case, FromSoftware will release two games next year; the studio will release its upcoming action RPG Duskblood exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. The developer of “Dark Souls” is also currently working on further updates and DLC content for the multiplayer cooperative survival game “Elden Ring Nightreign”, which will be launched on May 30.
FromSoftware confirmed in June that Nightreign would receive DLC later this year, along with new features such as a two-player mode, enhanced boss battles, new player characters, and more.
Duskbloods, which was unveiled at the Switch 2 launch event in April, is also an online multiplayer PvPvE game where up to eight players compete against AI enemies.
While the studio looks set to release multiplayer games back-to-back, Miyazaki said in April that the company wouldn’t abandon single-player games. Therefore, the unannounced project “FMC” is likely to be a single-player game.

FromSoftware has been busy since the launch of Elden Ring in 2022. The studio released the mecha action game Armored Core VI: Rubicon Fire in 2023 and the main story expansion for Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, in 2024. The spin-off multiplayer game “Elden Ring Nightreign” was launched this year, while “Twilight Blood” is confirmed to be launched in 2026.
Back in December 2024, Miyazaki said that the studio had no immediate plans to make Elden Ring 2, but was developing several different projects. “I can’t talk about any unpublished works, but I do have several projects in progress at FromSoftware at the moment,” Miyazaki said on the sidelines of the PlayStation Partner Awards 2024 Japan Asia event. “There are many types, so I hope everyone will look forward to it.”
