Freeman scores 27 off the bench as Auburn cruises against Queens (NC), 106-55

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Elyjah Freeman scored 27 points in 23 minutes off the bench, Kevin Overton scored 23 and Auburn led the entire game in beating Queens (NC) 106-65 on Monday night.

The Tigers (9-4) ended their nonconference slate with a national-best 64 consecutive nonconference home games won. Auburn’s last home loss to a non-conference opponent was against Oklahoma State on January 30, 2015.

Keyshawn Hall scored 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-6 from three-point range. Freeman hit 9 of 13 shots — all four of his long-range attempts — and made all five of his free throw attempts. Overton made 8 of 12 shots, including 5 of 7 three-pointers.

A 22-2 run midway through the first half turned a 6-point lead into a 26-point deficit. The Tigers led 57-21 at halftime.

Tahad Pettiford dished out a game-high nine assists, assisting on 22 of Auburn’s 35 field goals.

Nasir Mann scored 13 points (4-for-10 from the field) for the Royals (5-8), who were voted Atlantic Sun Conference champions in their fourth season as Div. I program.

Auburn will visit No. 23 Georgia on Saturday to begin SEC play.

The Queens open their Atlantic Sun slate Thursday at home against Eastern Kentucky.
