Former Ohio State golfer Neal Shipley has been steadily making a name for himself in the professional golf world since winning the Low Amateur at the 2024 Masters. Shortly after being recognized at Augusta National, Shipley advanced to the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina.
After winning twice on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2025, Shipley earned her PGA card and will compete on the tour as a rookie in the 2026 season. Shipley joins the Tomorrow Golf League (better known as TGL) after qualifying for the WM Phoenix Open last weekend. What is TGL? According to ESPN, “TGL is a technology-rich 3-on-3 golf league featuring six teams of four PGA Tour golfers competing in two-hour tournaments at the SoFi Center, TGL’s custom-built facility in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.”

In Shipley’s first time playing on the high-tech simulator, the former Buckeye did something no one has been able to do since TGL’s inception in 2022. Shipley hit a perfect shot on the par-3 hole to create the first hole-in-one in TGL history. Check out the unprecedented shot courtesy of the Ohio State Athletics X (formerly Twitter) account.
Shipley continues to do things that capture the attention of the golf world. He clearly has the talent and now we’ll get a chance to see how he stacks up against the best players in the world. So far, it looks like he’s been able to hold his own.
