Forgotten Liverpool star inches closer to permanent starting role

A Liverpool star is inching closer to a starting spot. Although people have largely forgotten this.

There are some big changes coming to Liverpool. Some of that will naturally happen this summer, especially with contracts expiring.

As things stand, Ibrahima Konate is set to leave the club. Liverpool don’t appear to be particularly close to renewing his contract, even if doing so would be the best option for everyone right now.

Andy Robertson is also almost certain to leave. He came close to joining Tottenham Hotspur last month, only Liverpool’s depth prevented him from leaving early.

But again, his contract is expiring. It would be a real shock if he got a new one.

Federico Chiesa is another who looks likely to leave. Then Joe Gomez and Curtis Jones would both be interested after receiving offers this season.

Then there’s Allison Becker.

Alison Becker’s complicated future

Technically, Alisson’s contract expires this summer as well. However, Liverpool have a clause that allows them to extend the contract by another year.

It would be shocking if they didn’t enact that provision. Even if Alisson leaves, it would make sense to extend the contract and collect a fee. It sounds like that might be an option.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus want Alisson. They feel they have a chance of getting him too, especially with Georgy Mamardashvili at Anfield.

The Georgian was signed to put pressure on Alisson, but he has been largely forgotten about this season. He played in the cup but will not feature in any major tournaments unless the Brazilian is absent.

But this report highlights that he is closing in on a starting spot. it possible If Alisson leaves it will come this summer, but otherwise the chances of him getting the chance within a year are high.

Liverpool might even include Alisson in their squad more regularly in the 2026/27 season if he’s still around. After all, Mamardashvili is the goalkeeper of the future at Anfield.

That’s crystal clear given they spent nearly £30m to get him. It doesn’t make sense to spend that kind of money on a No. 2 goalkeeper, and we don’t believe Mamardashvili would sign for Liverpool without some kind of guarantee that he would get the job after Alisson.

That moment is getting closer. Whether it’s 2026 or 2027, we have to believe that Mamardashvili will be in trouble soon.
