For the second time, this Kansas chain has abruptly closed a Wichita restaurant

One of Jose Pepper’s restaurants in Wichita has suddenly closed for the second time.

This first happened in late 2022, when the Jose Pepper’s restaurant on the west side closed after a decade in business.

Now, the one in the Plazzio development at 13th and Greenwich has closed.

The restaurant’s Google listing says it’s temporarily closed, but a voicemail from the restaurant says: “This restaurant is permanently closed.”

Former employees of the restaurant, which opened in 2009, posted about it on social media on Monday. They were unhappy with the lack of notice, which was not received until Sunday, the last day the restaurant was open.

Just like when Jose Pepper’s on the west side closed, it seems some employees only discovered the situation when they arrived at work.

“Wow, Jose Peppers has done it again!!!” said one commenter.

“*Warning for foul language*” was the start of another rant.

No one from the company responded to a request for comment.

Previously, a representative for Jose Pepper said the west side restaurant was closing due to poor sales following the pandemic.

In a note to employees, the company said it would be closing “due to the lease.”
