For logistics, Patriots, Mike Vrabel leaning on Josh McDaniels’ Super Bowl experience

FOXBOROUGH — Mike Vrabel has been to three Super Bowls as a player, but this is the first time the Patriots coach has had to deal with some of the logistics of preparing for Super Bowl 60 in the two weeks leading up to it.

There needs to be a balance between making the most of the extra time and not letting all the extra responsibilities become a burden.

To do that, he turned to offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who has been to eight Super Bowls and won six championships with the Patriots.

“Coach is a great resource. Josh is obviously a great resource,” Vrabel said. “He went through these drills with an extended break.”

Vrabel said the Patriots’ main goal this week is to keep players as healthy as possible.

Wednesday will include weightlifting, some conditioning and “light football training.”

They will practice Thursday and Friday, likely indoors. They have a day off on Saturday. After Sunday’s workout, they will head to California. All travel is obviously weather dependent.

“Then Monday is like a bonus day where we end the week off and do some training and some exercise,” he said. “Then Tuesday is off. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, try to keep a normal week.”

Monday will be Super Bowl media night.

Vrabel said the Seahawks’ game plan will be developed over time.

That’s what happened this week. Here’s what happens next week. There’s a lot of preparation,” he said. “You try to avoid doing too much too early. And then, how do you keep their attention and focused and locked in next week? So, I think we struck a good balance. “
