Cam Dooley Entered the transfer portal earlier this week, but the former Kentucky standout remains in the SEC after all.
Dooley, a part-time starter at UK safety this year, has committed to Florida through the NCAA transfer portal. He visited Gainesville on Wednesday, and things quickly changed as Jon Sumrall and Co. added one of their top defensive targets.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder has 30 tackles, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery this season. He started the final three games of the year after the veteran safety was sidelined with injury Jordan Lovett. As a true freshman in 2024, he started all 12 games for Kentucky as a backup, recording four tackles and one TFL.
Dooley is ranked as one of the top safeties on the portal, and the On3 industry transfer rankings rank him as the No. 88 overall player and the No. 10 safety. His current rating is 91, indicating he is an impact player for the Gators.
He’s an Alabama native who originally chose the Wildcats as a member of the Class of 2024 over Missouri and a host of other programs. He actually visited the Gators in April 2023 but never received a formal invitation from Billy Napier’s staff.
Gators quickly rebuild roster under Sumrall
Now he will join a program aimed at a massive rebuild through the portal. Florida State already has more than 20 players on its 2025 roster entering the portal, including multiple starters and secondary players. That includes starting safety Jordan Castell, who has 168 tackles, 12 pass deflections, three interceptions and one sack over the past three seasons.

Dooley will be looked at to replicate some of that production as the Gators look to get their program back on track. Florida also signed Baylor safety transfer DJ Coleman earlier this week.
Coleman played in all 12 games for the Bears last season, ranked fifth on the team in tackles with 46, and led the team with two interceptions.
