Final LSU football bowl game projections ahead of reveal

The LSU football team will learn its bowl destination on Sunday. A few hours ago, ESPN released its final bowl predictions. ESPN reports LSU will travel to Nashville to play in the Music City Bowl against Illinois.

The Music City Bowl will be held on December 30 in Nashville, Tennessee. Kickoff is 4:30 pm Central Time on ESPN.

LSU last played in the Music City Bowl in 2014, when Les Miles’ LSU team lost to Brian Kelly’s Notre Dame. Despite the loss, it was a breakout game for LSU freshman running back Leonard Fournette.

LSU interim head coach Frank Wilson is expected to remain in the same role through the bowl game. It’s unclear whether Wilson will be part of Lane Kiffin’s future LSU staff. If Wilson doesn’t engage with those plans and chooses to leave before the bowl game to find another job, LSU could turn to Blake Baker or Corey Redmond in the meantime.

If the destination isn’t Nashville, other options include a return to the Texas Bowl, where LSU defeated Baylor last year.
