Fiery three-vehicle crash in Rancho San Diego

RANCHO SAN DIEGO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Three vehicles were engulfed in flames after a traffic accident in Rancho San Diego on Sunday night, according to San Miguel Fire Rescue.

Fire officials said they responded to the incident on Calle Albara, near Rancho San Diego Elementary School, around 8:37 p.m.

Crews said when they arrived at the scene, a car crashed into two parked cars and three vehicles were on fire.

Officials said the occupants of the car that caused the crash got out of the car and fled on foot to a nearby hillside.

The San Miguel Fire Company said there were no other people in the other vehicles. The fire does pose a threat to nearby vegetation.

Fortunately, crews were able to put out the fire before it spread.

ASTREA flew over the scene to check for victims or hot spots, but officials said the crew found nothing.

Calle Albara will be closed from Jamacha Road to Avenida Apolinaria as the California Highway Patrol investigates and cleans up the scene.
