FDA issues urgent recall of trendy supplement after three people fall ill in US

A popular dietary supplement is being recalled across the United States because it is linked to a salmonella outbreak that has sickened several people.

Rosabella brand Moringa powder capsules designed to support healthy energy levels and good sleep were recalled on Friday, according to a press release shared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The recall comes after the CDC gathered information showing seven people became infected with Salmonella Newport, a foodborne illness, between November 7, 2025, and January 8, 2026. Three patients interviewed reported taking Rosabella brand moringa powder capsules.

The capsules are sold in white plastic bottles with a green label and an expiration date of 2027. Consumers can identify the product by the different seven-digit lot numbers listed by the FDA.

The recalled supplements are also sold online through eBay, TikTok Shop, Amazon, Shein and Tryrosabella.com.

Salmonella infections have been found in seven states: Arizona, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee and Washington. Three of the seven patients were hospitalized. No deaths have been reported.

Consumers should throw away these supplements immediately or return them to the place of purchase.

As noted in the FDA press release, salmonella illness typically occurs “within 12 to 72 hours after eating food contaminated with the bacteria.” Typically, symptoms include diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps that can last four to seven days.

Many supplements have been linked to previous salmonella outbreaks in the United States. Last month, Superfoods Inc., the maker of Live it Up brand Super Greens powder, recalled its original Wild Berry flavor supplement powder because the powder was linked to 45 illnesses reported between August and December 2025.

At least 12 people have required hospitalization, but no deaths have been recorded. The products are sold across the country, and cases have been detected in 21 states.

In September, four popular dietary supplements imported from Vallon Farm Direct in Jodhpur, India, including Member’s Mark Super Greens Powder, were recalled due to links to a salmonella outbreak. At that time, 11 people were sick and three were hospitalized.

Of the 10 sick people interviewed by the CDC, 9 reported consuming powdered dietary supplements. Six people also reported consuming Member’s Mark Super Greens Powder.

Salmonella is the second leading cause of foodborne illness in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The organization also noted that each year, 1.35 million people become ill, 420 die, and 26,500 are hospitalized due to salmonella.
