SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) – A fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a sedan caused a complete shutdown of northbound Interstate 805 near Mission Valley Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash, which was first reported by Sig Alert shortly around 5 a.m., occurred in the area of Friars Road north and Murray Ridge Road south.

All northbound lanes of Interstate 805 were temporarily closed, and the CHP reported “extreme congestion” from El Cajon Boulevard to Murray Ridge Road and traffic was being rerouted.
Caltrans confirmed in an update released at 5:55 a.m. that the two right lanes of the freeway have reopened, while the three left lanes remain closed.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and consider alternative routes while authorities investigate and work to clear the scene. CHP recommends drivers use Interstate 15 or State Route 163 as alternative routes.
