Facebook has been around for over 15 years. With nearly 3 billion monthly active users, it is one of the most popular social media platforms on the Internet, if not the most popular. If you’re reading this article, you probably already have a Facebook account. Facebook allows users to permanently deactivate or delete their accounts. Once you decide to delete your account, it will be difficult to retrieve your information if you change your mind 30 days after deleting your account.
Meta-owned Facebook lets you delete your account through the mobile app on Android and iOS or through a web browser. You should note that Facebook only gives you 30 days to undo the deletion of your account and all of its posts and information. Facebook can take up to 90 days to completely delete the account and all of its information.
Delete Facebook account via mobile app/browser
Facebook allows you to delete your account via Android or iOS. Here’s how:

Click the hamburger icon in the upper right corner.

Scroll down and click Settings and privacy and click set up.

tap Personal and account information.

Click Account Ownership and Control. If you have access to a page, click Profile access and control.

Click Deactivate and delete.

choose Delete account and click Proceed to delete account.

Select one of the causes on the screen or click Proceed to delete account.

Scroll down and select Delete account.
Delete Facebook account from desktop
Facebook also lets you delete your account through a desktop browser. Please follow the steps below to delete your account:
- Open the Facebook website.
- Click the down arrow in the upper right corner.
- Go to Settings and privacy and click set up.
- Click Your Facebook information from the menu panel on the left. If you have access to a page, click privacy and then Your Facebook information.
- choose Deactivate and delete and click at the bottom of the page view.
- choose Delete account and go to Proceed to delete account.
- choose Delete account.
- Enter your password to verify and click continue.
Once you delete your account and the 30-day recovery period is over, you will not be able to retrieve the account or access any data you posted. You’ll also lose access to Facebook Messenger and other apps that require Facebook login credentials. Additionally, deleting the Facebook account associated with the Oculus headset will cause all information on the VR headset to be deleted.
