As the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping investigation enters its sixth week, two retired FBI agents discuss the possibility of elder abuse in the 84-year-old mother’s disappearance.
In the program broadcast on March 8 Brian Entin Investigates In the podcast, NewsNation reporters interviewed former FBI agents Maureen O’Connell and Jim Clement, in which he raised the topic of elder abuse and whether it should be considered in Nancy’s case.
“I think a lot of people can relate to this when you have older parents, you know, there’s a lot of people coming in and out of the house,” Entin told Parade. “Whether it’s health care workers or people helping clean up, or helping your loved one take a shower or something like that.”
He then asked guests whether the possibility of elder abuse should be considered in this particular investigation.
“Of course,” Clement replied. “I think everyone who has nothing to do with Nancy Guthrie. Anyone who works in the house, in the yard, in the pool. Anyone who fixes things in the house, makes deliveries, or even drives her with an Uber or Lyft, all of those people should be concerned.”
He added, “Because that may be the link that allows them to understand that she lives alone and is vulnerable.”

I have a neighbor here who I love like a second mom to me. She’s 84 years old, too. Since this started, you know, I’ve been like white rice to her. I just wish she was ten times more careful about everything.”
She continued, “But the bottom line is: They will tell anyone anything they ask them.”
Entin previously reported on Friday (March 6) that the FBI was investigating a possible internet outage that occurred the night Nancy disappeared, and that a neighbor’s Ring camera recordings from that night were mysteriously unavailable.
