Everton vs Chelsea preview: Injury concerns shape key clash
Everton face a growing draft headache ahead of their Premier League clash with Chelsea, with several key figures absent or uncertain ahead of kick-off at Hill Dickinson Stadium. David Moyes must once again rely on squad depth as his side look to respond after losing 2-0 to Arsenal.

Injury list affects Everton set-up
Everton will certainly be without Jack Grealish and Carlos Alcaraz, both of whom are out injured, while Tyrique George will be unavailable against his parent club Chelsea. Defensive stability is also at risk, with James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite both questionable. Moyes remains hopeful they will be “in and around” the squad, although neither is guaranteed to start.

Defensive adjustments may be made
If Tarkovsky and Branthwaite are absent, Everton can retain a makeshift backline of James Garner, Jack O’Brien, Michael Keane and Vitali Mykolenko. If Garner returns, he could move into midfield after recently being recognized by England, allowing O’Brien to transition into a more natural defensive role.

Midfield and attacking options
Idrissa Gueye is expected to feature in midfield, while Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is likely to feature up front against former club Chelsea. Iliman Ndiaye provides offensive width, playing alongside Dwight McNeil or Harrison Armstrong.
Up front, Beto’s recent struggles in front of goal have opened the door for Tierno Bari to be given a chance to spark up Everton’s attack against Chelsea.
Predict Everton lineup
Pickford, O’Brien, Keane, Tarkovsky, Mykolenko, Garner, Gay, Armstrong, Dewsbury-Hall, Ndiaye, Barry
Despite these setbacks, Everton must find resilience and attacking clarity if they are to challenge Chelsea.
