The Red Devils’ shortlist includes Premier League-tried players such as Cameroonian Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali and Adam Walton.
Casemiro’s departure this summer, coupled with Manuel Ugarte’s uncertain future, makes it vital that United invest heavily in the midfield department in the upcoming window.
Elliot Anderson has been widely discussed as one of the Red Devils’ most likely targets this summer.
Michael Carrick’s side will certainly face hurdles over a move, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Bayern Munich also linked with the midfielder.

Reports yesterday suggested United have been laying the groundwork for a potential deal for the England international for months and are prepared to break the club’s record spending to sign him.
Anderson has his say
The 23-year-old was asked by The Independent about a potential move this summer and replied: “I’m just focusing on my football now and trying to give everything to Nottingham Forest, really.”
The Manchester United target also commented on the development of his game at the City Ground, saying: “It’s been a big two years. To be honest, I think I’ve done a great job both on and off the pitch in my time here. I think I’ve matured as a person as well.”
