Eagles vs. Commanders: Ten more key stats to know for Week 16

Week 16 is approaching, and the key for Philadelphia is to win a game to secure the NFC East and, after two games against the weaker Commanders, a jump to the second seed is possible.

Washington (4-10) will host Philadelphia (9-5) in NFC action on Saturday afternoon as part of the NFL’s doubleheader airing on FOX, while Chicago will face Green Bay in a key NFC North matchup. Philadelphia leads the NFC East with a 9-5 (.643) record and is currently in third place in the division playoffs.

The Commanders will host the Eagles for the second straight season in Week 16, while Washington is looking for back-to-back NFC East wins after defeating the New York Giants 29-21 in Week 15.

As kickoff approaches, we’re looking at ten more key statistics.

Jalen Hurts performed well at center.

Hurts is one of three quarterbacks in the NFL with more than 30 total touchdowns (30), the others being Josh Allen (37) and Matthew Stafford (37). In Week 15 against the Raiders, he became the first Eagles quarterback to post a passer rating above 150 (154.9) and a completion percentage above 80.0% (80.0%) in multiple games in the same season, also doing the same in Week 7 against Minnesota. A big reason for his improved performance is that OC Kevin Patullo moved Hurts under center.

Nakobe Dean has been dominant.

Since returning to the Eagles’ defense in Week 7, Nakobe Dean has recorded the highest PFF pass rushing grade (92.3), pass rush win rate (30.0%) and pressure percentage (36.7%) among off-ball linebackers in the NFL (min. 30 pass rush snaps). During that stretch, Dean was the first Eagles player to record multiple sacks since Haason Reddick in 2022, and he ranked second among off-ball linebackers with 4.0 sacks, behind Eric Wilson (5.0). He’s also the only player since Week 7 with more than 50 tackles (53), more than 4.0 sacks and more than two saves.

Howie Roseman hits the jackpot on Moro Ojomo.

Ojomo is a third-year pass-rushing defensive tackle who enters training camp looking for a breakout season following the departure of Milton Williams. Ojomo totaled 20 tackles (six solo) in 17 regular season games during the 2024 season. This season, he has developed into a reliable interior pass rusher for the Eagles. Ojomo’s 44 pressures ranked eighth among NFL defensive tackles, and his 74.7 overall grade ranked in the top 15, according to PFF.

Take a bow for the Eagles’ secondary

This season, Philadelphia holds opponents to the lowest completion percentage in the league (56.0%). That’s the best number the Eagles have achieved in 14 games since the 2008 season (53.9%). Philadelphia has thrown just 13 touchdown passes, which ranks second in the NFL behind only the Los Angeles Chargers (12). The Eagles remain the only NFL team not to allow a touchdown pass on third or fourth down (the last NFL team to do that in 14 games was the 2008 Colts).

Eagles defensive efficiency

The Eagles’ defensive EPA (70.9) ranks fifth in the NFL, behind Seattle (111.1), Houston (99.6), Cleveland (98.9) and the Los Angeles Rams (74.8).

Quinnen Mitchell will be an All-Pro.

According to Next Gen Stats, Quinyon Mitchell leads all NFL CBs with seven games allowing 10 yards or less in coverage and catch rate (41.6%) (min. 50 targets). He also ranked second in press window (41.6 percent) and average target separation (1.8) — behind Pat Surtain II (45.3 percent and 1.7) in each category — and passer rating allowed (61.4), trailing only Derek Stingley (57.0) (min. 50 targets). Mitchell has allowed no touchdown passes in 540 snaps this season.

Zach Bowen makes the All-Pro team for the second straight season?

It’s no longer a secret that Zack Baun is among the best players in the NFL after earning All-Pro honors in 2024. Bowen is the only NFL player with 100-plus tackles (team-high 108), 3.0-plus sacks (3.5) and 3-plus tackles for loss (2 scores, 1 offense) in 2025.

Jaelan Phillips has been key.

Jaelan Phillips ranks eighth in the NFL in sacks this season (56), trailing only Micah Parsons (83), Aidan Hutchinson (77), Will Anderson (76), Nick Bonito (67), Josh Hines-Allen (67), Myles Garrett (63) and Danielle Hunter (57). Since being acquired by the Hawks at the trade deadline, he has had a team-high 27 pressures.

Saquon Barkley is approaching personal history.

He’s well shy of 2,005 rushing yards, but Barkley (940) needs just 60 rushing yards to reach 1,000-plus yards for the fifth time in his career. Since Week 8, Barkley ranks eighth in the league in rushing yards (571) and has three touchdowns.

Eagles’ WR duo

Since Week 3, DeVonta Smith (820) and AJ Brown (805) rank eighth and tied for 10th, respectively, in NFL wide receiver receiving yards. The only duo among WR teammates in the top 10 during this period is Amon-Ra St. Brown (980, 4th) and Jameson Williams (805, tied for 10th). AJ Brown ranks fifth in the NFL in receiving yards (383) since Week 12, trailing only Puka Nakua (517), Sheedy Lamb (419), Amon-Ra St. Brown (405) and Jaxon Smith-Ngiba (395) during that span.

Goedert ranks fourth in the NFL (second among TEs) with a career-high nine receiving touchdowns, trailing Davante Adams (14), Amon-Ra St. Brown (11) and Trey McBride (10). Goedert led the team with 70 receiving yards and two touchdowns in Week 15, one touchdown shy of the Eagles TE record (10) set by Pete Retzlaff in the 1965 season.
