The Philadelphia Eagles no longer have hopes of defending their Super Bowl title after losing 23-19 to the San Francisco 49ers in the wild-card round.
As has been the case for much of the season, the Eagles’ offense was a mixed bag, doing little in the second half, and the defense needed some help against a very capable 49ers offense. The team has found ways to win throughout the season but couldn’t deliver on Sunday.

The 49ers will now travel to Seattle to face the No. 1 seed Seahawks in the NFC Divisional Round, while the No. 2 seed Chicago Bears will host the No. 5 seed Los Angeles Rams.
The AFC will play its final two games of wild-card weekend, with the No. 7 Los Angeles Chargers and No. 2 New England Patriots on Sunday night and the No. 5 Houston Texans and No. 4 Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night. The sixth-ranked Buffalo Bills defeated the third-ranked Jacksonville Jaguars earlier Sunday and will face either the No. 1 seed Denver Broncos (if the Chargers lose) or the Patriots in next weekend’s divisional round.
