ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Troy Terry and Mason McTavish scored in the shootout and the Anaheim Ducks ended the Washington Capitals’ six-game winning streak with a 4-3 victory on Friday night.
Beckett Sennecke grabbed the NHL rookie scoring lead with a goal and an assist for the Pacific Division-leading Ducks, who bounced back from a 7-0 loss to Utah State with a much-improved performance on Wednesday. Carter Gauthier scored his 16th goal and Ross Johnston had a goal and an assist for Anaheim.

Logan Thompson made 34 saves for the Americans, who had a point in each of their three games on the road in California despite suffering just their second loss in 11 games. Tom Wilson, Ethan Frank and Aliakse Protas scored in regulation for the U.S. and Anthony Beauvillier scored in the shootout.
Ville Husso made 18 saves and took the glove to try to end Frank’s shootout.
After Wilson scored his 17th goal midway through the first period, Gauthier tied the game with a clever set-up by Senek.
Frank grabbed a rebound and scored at the beginning of the second quarter. Johnston equalized 13 seconds later by redirecting a Radko Gudas shot for the fourth-line grinder’s second goal, but Protas scored on the rebound shortly after.

Senek tied the game again late in the second quarter with his eighth goal and 22nd point, both tops among rookies.
Washington rookie Ryan Leonard did not return after bleeding from his face on an unpunished check on Jacob Trouba in the first quarter.
Mikael Granlund returns after missing 18 of the Ducks’ previous 19 games with a lower-body injury.
With Charlie Lindgren injured, Washington’s backup goaltender is Parker Milner, a 35-year-old retired minor league goalie who occasionally practices with Team USA and happens to be on the road trip.
Milner, a minor league teammate of Thompson’s, is now the food editor of The Post and Courier in Charleston, South Carolina. Prior to warm-ups, Team USA offered first-time NHL players a traditional solo lap experience.
