Donald Trump lashed out at Bill Maher again on Saturday, nearly a year after the HBO Real Time host had dinner with him at the White House.
The president was outraged on Friday by some of Maher’s jokes and comments, including the president’s prediction that China would end all hockey in Canada.

Trump wrote in a lengthy Truth Social post on Saturday, “Sometimes in life you waste time! TV host Bill Maher, through a friend of his (also a friend of mine) asked to have dinner with me and I agreed. He entered the famous Ellipse Being in the round office was very different than I imagined. He was very nervous and had zero confidence in himself and within seconds asked for a “vodka tonic” to calm his nerves. He said to me: “I have never felt like this before and I was really scared.” “It was kind of cute in a way! Anyway, we had a nice dinner, quick and easy, and he seemed like a nice guy and was very respectful of our meeting during our first post-dinner show – but after everything I’ve done to bring our country back from oblivion, why shouldn’t he?”
“Anyway, having this asshole in the White House is a complete waste of time for me,” Trump wrote. “Last night, after explaining what a disaster Canada’s ‘leaders’ were dealing with, how Canada had ‘cheated’ the United States on trade for years (but not anymore!), I jokingly stated in a statement, ‘The first thing China is going to do is end all hockey games in Canada and permanently cancel the Stanley Cup.'”
Trump also wrote that Maher “keeps making hockey statements like ‘what kind of person would say something stupid like that’ as if I meant it when I said it. Luckily, his TV ratings are so low that no one will pick up on his various fake news statements about me. He’s no different than Kimmel, Fallon or Colbert, but I have to admit, he’s more talented! Regardless, Bill Maher is a Highly overrated lightweight, Republicans should stop using him. He showed me how the left has overtaken us – our base, the greatest of all time, will laugh at your weakness when you do! Maher asked me if he could ever go back to the White House again and ask for a wonderful White House Christmas party with his friends, but regardless, I’d rather spend my time making America great again than waste my time on him. (TDS!), and there is no cure for his very serious disease, thank you President DJT for taking this little issue into consideration!”
In April, Maher had dinner with Trump at the White House, arranged by Kid Rock, a longtime supporter of the president. Maher described Trump as “affable, measured” and “more self-aware than he lets on in public.”
He also said he still has “no favorable opinion” of the Trump administration and “will be critical of a lot of things he’s doing… but I also think he understands now that I have a job to do.”
A spokesman for Maher did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
