Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville predicts when the president will be elected Donald Trump will resign, claiming the commander-in-chief will voluntarily step down within the next year. The 81-year-old political insider shared his prediction in a Politicon video posted on March 16, suggesting that mounting political pressure and international crises would force Trump to resign.

Carville, known for his blunt comments and decades of political experience, bluntly explained why he believes Donald Trump will resign and fail to serve out his term. “Everything he tries blows up in his face,” Cavill said. “I’m telling you, I think he’s going to resign by this time next year. I think he’s going to fucking walk away because Democrats control the House and the Senate.”
That prediction hinges heavily on the upcoming midterm elections, which currently show Democrats with a slight lead in recent polls, according to The New York Times aggregate tally. Carville believes that if Congress were Democratic, Trump would find himself irrelevant and frustrated. “No one will pay attention to him,” he added.
Additionally, Carville pointed to the multiple crises facing the administration, including the escalation of the war with Iran that began on February 28 with joint aerial bombardments by U.S. and Israeli forces. The casualties were heavy, with U.S. Central Command reporting that 13 U.S. military personnel were killed and more than 200 injured. On March 1, an Iranian drone struck a mobile operations center in Kuwait, killing six soldiers; a tanker plane crashed in Iraq, killing six others.
In addition, Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz on March 2, causing oil prices to skyrocket, and the war directly affected Americans’ wallets. The national average price of gasoline has climbed to $3.80, nearly a dollar higher than the average price of $2.94 a month ago. “The country’s fiscal situation has been stretched beyond its limits. The Iran incident has become a disaster of the highest caliber,” Carville said. The White House pushed back on Carville’s assessment.
