In 2023, the Dominican Republic had a disappointing performance at the World Baseball Classic, failing to pass the group stage and advance to the knockout rounds.

This time, the Dominican Republic returns to the WBC with a star-studded lineup led by Juan Soto, Fernando Tatis Jr. and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. While the roster is certainly stronger than pitching, the team does have a solid rotation in Christopher Sanchez and Sandy Alcantara.
Even more interesting is that future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols will serve as the team’s head coach for the first time since retiring. Pujols previously represented the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic and began coaching in the Dominican Republic after retiring.
The Dominicans have a team made up of Major League Baseball stars and they hope to make a run at the WBC title this time around and hopefully win it for the second time.
