The Miami Dolphins have found their man.
The Dolphins fired current head coach Mike McDaniel after the 2025 season after going 7-10 in his fourth year with the organization and missing the playoffs for the second straight season. Now, the Dolphins are the third of 10 teams to have a chance to find a new head coach, announcing Monday that they will hire Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley to fill the role.

“I believe the Miami Dolphins have a great future under Jeff Hafley,” Dolphins owner Stephen M. Ross said after the hiring became public. “Jeff is an outstanding coach with a proven track record as a leader and motivator. He has tenacity and courage while building trust with his players in order to get the best out of them.”
This is Hafley’s first opportunity as an NFL head coach after spending nine years as an assistant at the NFL level, including two as coordinator, both with the Packers. In those two years, the Packers ranked ninth in yards allowed per game, sixth in yards allowed per game and eighth in points allowed per game.
Hafley also served as Ohio State’s defensive coordinator in 2019 and served as Boston College’s head coach from 2020 to 2023, the only head coaching stint of his career, during which he compiled a 22-26 record in four seasons. The move marks the eighth consecutive time the Dolphins have hired a head coach without any head coaching experience, dating back to Dave Wannstedt, who held the position from 2000 to 20004. Overall, Hafley has coached at the college and professional levels for more than two decades.
