CHENNAI, India (AP) — Canada won the coin toss on Tuesday and chose to face New Zealand in a bid to secure a spot in the T20 World Cup Super 8.
Regular captain Mitchell Santner is ill and will miss the game because he “ate an unsafe burger last night,” stand-in captain Daryl Mitchell said.

Cole McConchie replaced Santner as an equal backup in the starting lineup.
New Zealand were forced to make another change, with Kyle Jamieson replacing bowler Lockie Ferguson, who is back home awaiting the birth of his first child. Ferguson plans to rejoin the team during the Super Eights.
A third win in Group D would ensure New Zealand progress to the next round along with South Africa, England, West Indies, India and Sri Lanka. New Zealand defeated Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates at this World Cup before losing to South Africa.
Canada has never played a T20 international against New Zealand. But the Black Cup side had won all three of their previous games against Canada in one-day internationals.

Canada is last in the group after losses to the United Arab Emirates and South Africa and would be eliminated if it loses to New Zealand.
Zimbabwe will be targeting victory over Ireland later on Tuesday, which would also see them knock out 2021 champions Australia in the first round for the first time since 2009. Nepal will face Scotland in the T20 World Cup after losing all three games in the group stage.
