The Los Angeles Dodgers moved on after their off day, beating the Cincinnati Reds 9-5 on Thursday.

Non-roster invitee Cole Irvin got the ball for the Dodgers, making his fourth appearance this spring with his new team. He allowed one run in two innings and struck out one batter.
The Dodgers struck first in the bottom of the first inning, giving Owen the lead. Teoscar Hernandez got the party started with a one-run double and Freddie Freeman scored on a single shortly after. Santiago Espinal hit a two-run double to make the score 4-0 at the end of the first inning.
Cincinnati wasn’t going to give up without a fight, as they tried to claw their way back to victory in the first half of the third quarter. Reece Hinds had an RBI walk and Noelvi Marte followed with an RBI single. The final run of the inning was scored on a wild pitch.

Max Muncy soon extended the Dodgers’ lead again, hitting his second homer of the spring in the bottom of the third inning, a two-run double with two outs.

Teoscar Hernandez continued his stellar performance two innings later with a two-run shot of his own to give Los Angeles an 8-3 lead.
The Reds tied the Dodgers in the seventh inning when Carlos Jorge hit an RBI double and P.J. Huggins scored on a grounder. However, Kyle Nevin hit a solo homer in the bottom of the inning to restore the Dodgers’ four-run lead.
Antonio Knowles relieved Antoine Kelly and got out of trouble in a scoreless eighth inning before coming back in the ninth to end the game and secure the Dodgers’ victory. Kyle Hurt and Paul Gervase both had solid performances on the pitching side, with Hurt striking out 3 in one inning of work while Gervase had 1.2 scoreless innings.
The Dodgers have now won three in a row and will look to keep that streak going on Friday against the Seattle Mariners.
