Many believe Washington Commanders general manager Adam Peters’ recent comments about Kai Adams made his stance clear.
Peters was recently a guest on “Up & Adams,” where he gushed about Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles. So much so that some in the Washington media were worried Peters would reveal what he was going to do. Peters foolishly talks too much.
Oh, please don’t be fooled. Do we really think Adam Peters, who works for Bill Belichick, doesn’t know how to talk to the media without revealing his plans? Do we really believe Peters can be manipulated so easily when he talks about the draft over the next three weeks? What do we think Peters is actually saying that all the other NFL scouts and general managers don’t already know about Styles?

Didn’t viewers notice that Adams initially called Styles “incredibly impressive”? She then asked Peters to evaluate Styles objectively. What should he do? List some of Styles’ weaknesses? Was Peters going to say, “Styles is overrated. There’s no way we could draft him.” No, Peters followed her lead, detailing how Styles was “incredibly impressive.”
Rest assured, Commander fans, Adam Peters knows what he’s doing. He is expected to select seventh overall. Does Peters know that anyone with the seventh pick has a lot of good qualities that he can convey to his audience?
Keep in mind that Styles is probably going to go down at No. 7, we don’t know, but you can bet that no matter who Adams is going to praise, Peters understands that his role is to speak for the players, to speak for the draft, to speak for the future of the league, and that’s actually what Peters did a great job with Adams. He did it so well, in fact, that he fooled many people who thought Peters talked too much.
In fact, when Peters selects No. 7, you can be sure: Peters has seen enough film; he doesn’t just have one player he wants, but maybe three or four players he thinks are worthy of being selected No. 7.

Peters still has a few weeks left before he may be asked to make occasional TV, radio or podcast appearances. You can bet that Adam Peters will speak positively about every player he might end up drafting with the seventh overall pick. So, don’t exaggerate.
Just realize that Peters knows how to promote his team, his league and his draft.
