Detroit Lions Draft Prospect Injury Analysis: Jeremiyah Love, RB – Notre Dame

Even if the Lions already have a healthy elite running back in Jahmyr Gibbs, can they draft an elite running back in the draft? Considering the importance of the running game to the entire team, that’s not out of the question. Jeremiah Love is projected to be a top-10 pick, but if he goes undrafted due to positional value reasons, the Lions could move up.

The following is an excerpt from my medical report on Jeremiah Love:

Jeremiyah Love, RB (21) – Notre Dame

Early Round 1 expected. March 5 Daniel Jeremiah Ranked 2 on the board. Ran a 4.36 40-yard dash at the combine. Measures 6’0″, 212 lbs.

Attention level 1/10

Love showed perfect availability in his three years in college. Recent rib injuries that may have occurred are not significant. But the knees in 2024 are worth studying. Hopefully (and most likely) this is just a simple ligament sprain and not a cartilage issue.

The only athletic test Love performed at the combine was the 40 mile, but a sub-4.4 time solidified his status as an elite candidate. His youth is also a huge positive, especially at the RB position.

Love finished his career with 433 carries for 2,882 yards and an average of 6.7 yards per year. His young age, lower medical concerns and elite athleticism should all be attractive to the Lions if he somehow falls to No. 17.
