GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Two West Michigan Denny’s stores appear to be closed.
Denny’s restaurant is located in 3127 Plainfield Avenue Close to Grand Rapids I-96 3817 Cork Street Both restaurants near Interstate 94 in Kalamazoo have been removed from the chain’s website and both are listed on Google as permanently closed.
When a News 8 crew pulled up to the Grand Rapids filming location Wednesday, the parking lot was empty and the doors had locks.

A former employee of the Grand Rapids restaurant told News 8 that the heat inside the restaurant has been out for about three months, leaving back-of-house employees working in freezing conditions. An employee told News 8 the plant closed about a week ago after the heat went out in front of the house.
Denn-Ohio, the franchise owner of both locations, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2023, court records show. At the time, Denn-Ohio had 10 stores in the Midwest.

Both locations have been around for decades. The Grand Rapids location, built in 1981 and the Kalamazoo location in 1979, sold on Jan. 16 for $1.6 million, property records show.
Denny’s to close dozens of restaurants by 2025
The two stores are among a growing number of Denny’s closures. The chain has About 150 stores have closed in the past two years. The company currently has 10 stores in Michigan, including restaurants in Battle Creek, Kentwood, Marshall and Wyoming, according to its website.
Denny’s, first founded in California in 1953, was acquired last month by TriArtisan Capital Advisors, Treville Capital Group and Yadav Enterprises for $620 million.
News 8 reached out to Denny’s on Wednesday but had not heard back as of the end of the business day.
